Celebrities and Social Media

Celebrities have always seemed like these larger than life figures that we could only see on the big screen or in some stadium, but now with the use of social media, they seem like real people that we can connect to. Twitter and Facebook allow us to see into the personal lives of these once unknown human beings. Now we can see their day to day, what they are doing, what they are thinking, or anything they want to post. It makes them more normal and human to us. But this easy connection to celebrities also has a down side, it allows us to communicate very easily with celebrities and say what ever we want. There are some people that tak advantage of this connection and tweet to celebrities really mean things, its like we have now forgotten that celebrities are actually people and will read these tweets. I find it amazing that celebrities can take the tweets with a grain of salt and even make fun of them, like they do on the Jimmy Kimmel Show when they read mean tweets about themselves http://beta.abc.go.com/shows/jimmy-kimmel-live/video/PL5520978/_m_VDKA0_6eand317.
I think we need to be more conscious of what our words say, and remember that celebrities although now more accessible are still people, and should still have that larger than life feel.

This is another blog that takes about how social media has changed celebrity culture forever.
